Grand City-Wide Civic Military Parade kicks off Buglasan Festival

(Dumaguete City, October 13, 2010) --- All roads will lead to Dumaguete City on October 15 when the mother of all festivals in Negros Oriental will open with a bang of sights and sounds in Friday, starting with a grand city-wide civic military parade that will kick-off from Rizal Boulevard and end at the Sidalkan Negros Village.

The parade is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. and from then on, a long and colorful procession of 77 contingents will strut along the city’s main streets.

Expected to join the parade are the local provincial officials in full force to be led by Governor Agustin Perdices, Vice Governor Roel Degamo, the three District Representatives, Sangguniang Panlalawigan members and department heads at the Capitol.

Contingents from the Philippine National Police at the provincial and city levels will march in the parade along with the ROTC Cadet Corps of Officers and Sponsors from the Silliman University and Foundation University, SU and FU Escort Companies, and the St. Paul University Dumaguete Band, Negros Oriental State University Band and the COSCA Band and Contingent.

Schools and representatives from the participating local government units in the province will likewise be joining the grand city-wide parade.

The parade will start from the Boulevard and weave through Colon Street, Perdices Street, Silliman Avenue (Portal West Building), Real St.-National Highway, EJ Blanco Drive and then end at the Review Stand in Sidlakang Negros Village.

The Float Presentations from participating local government units, schools and corporations is also a competition with the first prize winner to walk away with P10,000.

The panel of judges for said competition will come from Cebu and Bacolod City.

No less than Department of Tourism Region 7 Director Rowena Montecillo will be on hand to witness the parade from the Reviewing Stand at the Sidlakang Negros. (PIA/RMN)
