NegOr’s Buglasan grand festival invites all

(Dumaguete City, October 4, 2010)   One of the country’s grandest and most anticipated festival is set to launch on October 9—the Buglasan Festival 2010. This year’s Buglasan Festival expects a colorful pageantry by eleven (11) municipalities and cities which confirmed their participation for the two-week celebration.

Part of  the opening salvo, Pakol Festival of Sta. Catalina, last year’s festival winner will present on October 9 at 6:00PM at Robinsons Place along with the Buglasan King and Queen.

Part of the more than 50 daily events calendared for the Buglasan, a grand city wide civic military parade and an ecumenical service will formally start the Buglasan Festival on October 15 with the theme: “Sustaining Economic Growth Through Value Driven Culture of Tourism” at the Sidlakang Negros Village.

On October 22 serves as the main festival highlights which eleven (11) contingents from various out-of-town and cities will vie the grand Festival of festivals showdown and street dancing. 
Showdown and street dancing represents the local fiestas in the municipalities and cities affords an opportunity for the public to witness the colorful activities in one place at one time which will be routed along Dumaguete’s main thoroughfares and presentation per contingent at the Lamberto Macial Sports and Cultural Center.

Among the participating LGUs are: Tawo-tawo Festival of Bayawan City; Dumguete City’s Sandurot Festival; Langub of Mabinay; Himbabalud of Jimalalud; Sipong of Bais City; Siaton, Saulog, Tanjay City; Gapnud Festival of Sibulan; Zamboanguita’s Baulan Festival; Manjuyod;   Libod Sayaw of Bindoy and Sulili Festival of Siquijor province.

Also among the tourists attractions of the festival are Pista sa Nayon in LGU Booths; Agri-Fair, selection of the Festival King and Queen; performing arts competitions; open air band concerts; games and sports; Kumbira sa Boulevard; Outstanding Oriental Negrense Awards; and Kasikas sa Kalye.

A total of 18 entries will be participating for the fireworks display competition on October 23 and 24 along Rizal Boulevard. (PIA/JCT)
